English abstract
The ethnonarrative approach was born twenty years ago in a clinical environment with traumatized persons, affected by wars and migrations, to put to the fore emotional and intercultural well-being, stemming from and pursuing the pleasure of reading and writing. Reading for pleasure, especially shared reading aloud, is a “third place”, between reality and imagination, inhabited by personal symbols and sociocultural meanings. It generates empathy in the group while enriching the embodiment paradigm through community connections, intercultural skills and dialogic relations, in reading circles. Reading becomes transformative, a more than human and collaborative experience, for readers and teachers, who learn how to deconstruct ill narratives and co-construct others, more oriented to understand and respect the Other and his/her complex experience.
