Abstract


Forum Groningen is huge cultural center inaugurated at the end of 2019 in the Dutch city of Groningen. It is a building of approximately 17,000 m2, which houses the library, a multiplex cinema, the comics museum, spaces for temporary exhibitions, the tourist information centre, two bookshops and three cafés. The building, designed by NL Architects, is located in the historic center, and is part of a larger urban redevelopment project. The building is characterized by a full-height central atrium, crossed by escalators, which overlook all the various functions, which are merged together. Also strongly focused on information literacy and media literacy, the Forum has over 2 million visitors a year and is a meeting and cultural sociality center for the city and the territory.
