Nieuwe Veste: la Biblioteca di Breda come “terzo luogo”

Abstract

Nieuwe Veste offers a major example of a “third place” library, a multifunctional space which fulfils all the needs of a diverse community. In addition to the traditional services, the library provides a government info point (to assist citizens with limited digital skills, providing support in navigating online government content), a Makersbase (Breda’s creative workshop), a music hall and multiple classes. The role and skills of the librarians are therefore continuously evolving and the library itself adapts its spaces and functions to the users’ requirements.
