Guidare i volontari del Servizio civile alla scoperta della biblioteca

Abstract

Ivana Pellicioli is the author of the book La biblioteca spiegata ai volontari del servizio civile. She has been the head of the Municipal Library in Alzano Lombardo and a reference point of the Library System of Valle Seriana for twenty years. Then she has involved in staff evaluation and later in civil service as a planner and trainer. This publication, addressed at young people who decide to do the universal civil service in libraries, draws a general picture that, starting from the rules of civil service and “leva civica”, tells, in a simple but exhaustive way, what the library is, what is its social role. Our wish and hope is that some of these young people will continue to work in libraries and make this experience their profession, their life’s work, in order to build those open and beautiful places, those squares of knowledge that are the libraries we all want.
