Il “cervello” ecologico

Abstract
Una delle biblioteche più interessanti del mondo è la nuova biblioteca filologica della Freie Universität di Berlino, chiamata "cervello di Berlino" per la sua forma. Progettato dal famoso architetto britannico Lord Norman Foster, questo edificio ha fornito una nuova sede per 700.000 libri provenienti da undici biblioteche dipartimentali del settore filologico e offre ora uno spazio per 650 lettori.
L'articolo descrive la storia e il profilo architettonico di questa biblioteca e considera in particolare il concetto di microclima che consente all'edificio di sfruttare al meglio le energie naturali del sole e del vento, nel rispetto dell'ambiente.
English abstract
One of the most interesting libraries in the world is the new Philological library of the Freie Universität Berlin, which is called the “Berlin brain” because of its shape. Designed by the renowned British architect Lord Norman Foster, this building has provided a new home for 700.000 books from eleven departmental libraries in the philological sector and offers now a desk space for 650 readers.
The article describes the history and the architectonical profile of this library and considers especially the concept of microclimate which enables the building to make optimum use of the natural energies of the sun and of the wind, in order to respect the environment.
