Il ruolo della VEZ Junior nel rinnovamento dei servizi bibliotecari veneziani

Barbara Vanin

Abstract

The paper deals with the reorganization and development’s project of Venetian libraries’ network, inspired by a modern idea of public library. The article focuses particularly on the strategic role played by the new children’s library in helping to renew city’s library services. The innovator role of this modern library designed for young people allowed the old children’s library historical collection’s restoration. The library existed between the 1920s and 30s and owns collections of particular historical and cultural interest. The paper highlights how the present children’s library, thanks to a generous artworks’ donation, promotes also a strong laboratorial activity on this side. A contribution to the public understanding of science is not overlooked, too.
