Abstract

Libraries shall challenge changes because from this metamorphosis they will earn new dynamism. The author explains why the role of libraries is even more important at this point of transition, characterised by the pressing role of technology. In the face of epochal processes and investments’ reduction it is necessary to react by improving innovations, without losing sight of mission. It is possible to take the opportunity to rethink and update some common issues like intellectual freedom, neutrality and social vocation.
