This article contains some thoughts on the last Paola Castellucci book, Carte del nuovo mondo: banche dati e open access. Among the many topics covered in this interesting book, full of interesting ideas, literary and historical references, there are two main threads: the transformation of databases under the pressure of open access and the physical locations in which the databases were produced. And behind all, the delicate issue of the relationship between humanistic culture and digital environment.
