Coperte di riuso: prendere o lasciare?

Abstract

The article explores the subject of reuse covers. Starting with a terminological, descriptive and timing context, it addresses the aspect of the historical layering by which the cover becomes a component older than the artifact which it belongs nowadays, as well as a different component. Under certain circumstances, such as the restoration of the artifact or the clear presence of a particular relevance text on a support used with function of cover, to come across some operating and preservative issues is inevitable. For when it comes theese issues, there are two approaches: to mantain the historical unity or to separate the cover from the artifact. The different stances have been explored, searching for explaining reasons and criticality, by proposing, ultimately, a reflection about a solution, which is effective not only for historical purposes but also for preservative ones.
