La definizione di nuovi standard per le biblioteche pubbliche

Rolph Hapel

Abstract

The new main library in Aarhus, Dokk1, was inaugurated two years ago and has since the opening been a tremendous success in terms of number of visitors and praises from reviewers. This has been possible thanks to a long work of design begun years before the library opening. The several citizens involvement activities and the partnership strategy with local associations have had the effect of broadening our network and create a sense of ownership among the citizens in Aarhus even before the building was taken into use. The attention to children and the idea of space as a service have made of Dokk1 a user-friendly building, formed by the continuous principle that human beings are the constant.
