Bibliotecari nell’era della propaganda

Abstract


It seems that the abundance of information makes the librarian’s role obsolete: so it happens to all the activities that require slowness and reflection. Now advertising prevails and tries to convince with short and catchy slogans to act without thinking. At first Internet was a communication tool among scientists, but, with the web 2.0, it has assumed the feature of other media. In a hyper-informative society it becomes difficult to distinguish truth from lie because the controls become more difficult. Social media follow the mystificatory laws of spectacle. The task of the philosopher is to indicate the difficulties and to take nothing for granted; the librarian does a similar activity examining the sources of knowledge and learnin g information literacy.
