La Biblioteca universitaria di Lugano e il progetto di analisi delle collezioni

Abstract

The aim of project is the analysis and evaluation of collections in stock and on open shelves at the University Library in Lugano, following the Conspectus method, with an outlook to “collection development policy”. The Library serves three USI Faculties (Economics, Communication Sciences, Informatics) and the Faculty of Theology in Lugano. The “written collection policy statements” are the goal of the collection evaluation: an assessment of existing collections is the basis for a rational and collaborative collection development. The project is split into 7 steps: data extraction, creation of a working group, communication and staff training, identification of the subjects and of levels in-depth, profile of academic and non-academic community, qualitative evaluation, presentation of results.
