Il Rapporto BES - Benessere equo e sostenibile in Italia

Abstract

The article presents the third edition of the Report on Equitable and Sustainable Wellbeing (BES 2015), a joint initiative of The Italian National Council for Economics and Labour (CNEL) and the Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT). It analyses the fundamental dimensions of wellbeing and progress in Italy and its territories, providing an overall view of the main social, economic and environmental phenomena which characterizes our country. After describing the theoretical framework and the structure of the project, the article focuses on some aspects particularly interesting for librarians. Finally the article proposes some reflections about the need for new kind of surveys in library that can bring out the role of libraries in welfare policies, according to the logic that «What we measure affects what we do and if our measurements are flawed, decisions may be distorted» and how this fits into the open reflection about soci al librarianship.
