Abstract

The article tackles with the evolution of the Italian university library systems after the publication of the university reform law 240/2010. It analyses the university bylaws published after the 240/2010. The author reflects on the lack of maturation of many university library systems in Italy, the need to raise awareness among stakeholders of the central role of the library in the university “ecosystem”, of the level of innovation and digital development of the academic libraries, and of the importance of the development of highly specialized skills for academic librarians.
