Abstract

The contribution provides an up-to-date overview of the situation of Irish school libraries and the advocacy campaign launched in 2021 for all schools at all levels to have a library in professional status. Despite the effectiveness demonstrated by the JCSP Library pilot project, launched in 2002, only 30 out of 700 secondary schools have a library with a professional librarian, while the project should be extended to all schools as a tool for inclusion and promotion of each student's potential.
