Abstract

The definition of a library is currently a battleground. Spaces, facilities, and services that have very different characteristics are called libraries. This article offers a reflection on this issue starting with Maria Stella Rasetti’s volume, The Library and its Reputation (Editrice Bibliografica, 2022). A line of research is presented that aims to analyze the different view of the valuing of public spaces in the different territories where traditional libraries and new cultural centers insist, analyzing their reputation through a qualitative approach.
