Quando la scienza diventa partecipata
Maria Cassella
Abstract
Crowdsourcing is a new activity in libraries, archives and museums related to special collections. It is an engaging activity with a twofold aim: the first aim is to create new partnerships and to develop library communities; the second aim is to enhance special collections. Crowdsorucing can also be an inspiring experience for library users. The author offers some examples of crowdsourced collections in academic libraries and discusses the relation between crowdsourcing and citizen science. The Europeana Transcribe project and its implications on Europeana collections is also discussed. In the final part of the article the author gives some suggestions and describes some tools to practice citizen science in academic libraries.
