Abstract

Bibliographic exhibitions are a very common and transversal topic in libraries. In the article the author proposes a reflection on the communicative aspects of a bibliographic exhibition. How to best communicate a bibliographic exhibition to the public and, above all, the different levels of communication of an exhibition and the main tools to communicate volumes and objects. Internally an exhibition communicates through the intrinsic sense of the exhibited volumes and objects and through their display to the public. Externally an effective communication strategy of an exhibition is supported by different tools and promotional materials. Librarians must collaborate with other professionals of the cultural heritage domain to organize successful exhibitions; they also must become acquainted with different communication tools and strategies.
