Abstract
The article describes through various contributions the events that led to the opening of the new Rendella, the public library of Monopoli in Puglia, a city of 49.000 inhabitants overlooking the sea. This library has lived a long period of oblivion. The decision to renovate and relaunch it coincided with the decision to completely rethink it in the organization of spaces and furnishings in function of more modern services. One of the strategic choices has been to focus on participative process by involving the citizens.
